Charles Cros Academy awards prize to Les Voyageurs de l’Espace album co-produced by CNES’s Observatoire de l’Espace

The Charles Cros Academy, which has been supporting diversity in music and artistic creation for 70 years, awarded a Coup de cœur* prize Sunday 10 September to Les Voyageurs de l’Espace (Buda Musique), an album co-produced by CNES’s Observatoire de l’Espace arts and science laboratory. Claudia Solal (vocals), Didier Petit (cello and vocals) and Philippe Foch (percussion, programming and vocals) composed 19 songs springing from their desire to “voice our imagination through themes retracing the history of the space adventure.” The jury made its award for the album’s innovativeness and impeccably performed music.

On tour in China and France
The Les Voyageurs de l’Espace collective is touring 15 Chinese cities from 10 to 24 September with its show Musique d’ailleurs (Music from another place) inspired by its Les Voyageurs de l’Espace album. They will be back in France for Nancy Jazz Pulsation on 19 October.
A co-production of CNES’s Observatoire de l’Espace and Einstein on the Beach.
When four contemporary authors and musicians meet
Seven songs on the album are adapted from texts written by contemporary authors. At the invitation of CNES’s Observatoire de l’Espace, Olivier Bleys, Sabine Macher, Mariette Navarro, Charles Pennequin, Éric Pessan, Coline Pierré and Karin Serres wrote texts based on visual archives of the space adventure and then worked with the musicians to create the lyrics for the songs.
