CNES Board of Directors convenes

Thursday 25 June, CNES’s Board of Directors convened in Paris for its 342nd session. Among the items on the agenda, special attention was given to managed services for the agency’s information system, its budget, the Telemak programme and real estate in French Guiana.

CNES’s Board of Directors had a lot of business on its agenda today for its 342nd session. After some introductory comments from CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall, the board examined contracts and commitments covering managed services for the agency’s information system and authorized CNES to sign an outsourcing contract. Founded on a novel end-to-end service approach, this contract is designed to improve quality of service while guaranteeing availability, security and performance, as well as optimizing costs.

On the programme front, the board reviewed progress on Telemak, a dual-use technology demonstrator for new-generation telecommunications satellites that pulls together all of the technology work CNES is doing on dual-use innovations.

The board then examined the agency’s budget, reviewing the direct and full costs of multilateral medium-term plans, the evolution of project costs on completion, target end dates for projects under development, the medium-term plan for France’s contribution to ESA and the second decision amending the projected statement of incomes and expenditures for 2015.

Finally, the board also discussed real estate at the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), notably the new services building and the planned refurbishment of 11 buildings at the launch base.
