CNES’s ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications confirmed

After the audit conducted in October last year at its four field centres, CNES’s ISO 9001 quality management system and ISO 14001 environmental management system certifications have been confirmed by Bureau Veritas Certification (BVC) after assessing the agency’s performance and processes.

The follow-up audit of CNES’s management system was performed in October 2015 at its Paris, Toulouse and Kourou field centres. After assessing the agency’s performance and processes, the certifying body Bureau Veritas Certification (BVC) confirmed its ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications.

BVC found that CNES’s management system is built on a solid and effective foundation.

Among the many strong points BVC highlighted are the implementation of HQE high-environmental-quality methods in the construction and refurbishment of buildings (in mainland France and French Guiana) and good integration of risk control in the management of its processes. On this last point, CNES had anticipated the latest revisions to the standard as early as 2011.

CNES has made significant progress since its first certification, extending the scope of the ISO 9001 and 14001 baselines to all of its field centres in order to achieve a single certified system. This federating approach is now an integral part of the agency’s management practices and sustained by everyone who contributed to this fine result.
