CNES’s ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications renewed

CNES’s Management System was audited in October with excellent results at its four centres of excellence in Paris Les Halles, Paris Daumesnil, Toulouse and Kourou. After its audit, certifying body AFNOR Certification confirmed the renewal of the agency’s ISO 9001 quality and ISO 14001 environmental management certifications.

No non-conformances were noted for the third year running.

Among the many strong points highlighted by the audit were:

  • The leadership of the agency’s senior management team and process leaders in addressing challenges and preparing for the future
  • The buy-in of CNES’s personnel to its progress drive
  • The agency’s strong international dynamic and expanding reach, attested by its numerous partnerships
  • The robustness of the management system and a strong sustainable development ambition
  • The maturity of environmental approaches in the areas of biodiversity, the environmental monitoring plan, eco-design, life-cycle analysis, carbon budget and sustainable procurement
  • The approach to career and skills management/planning
  • The operational maturity of projects and sites visited (location, through-life support, scientific ballooning operations, etc.)
  • The maturity of project management operations (SMOS, Ariane 6 launch complex) and effectiveness of decision-making bodies (Project Management Steering Committee)
  • The ArianeWorks platform (for the THEMIS programme)
  • The response to in-house customers and stakeholders
  • Capitalization of knowledge at all levels of the organization

On the announcement of these remarkable results, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall commented: “The renewal of our ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, with no non-conformances noted for the third year running, is a testament to the high level of performance at our four centres of excellence. I want to congratulate everyone at CNES for this excellent result, which we have accomplished thanks to their daily dedication to addressing the many challenges the agency is facing in a fast-changing landscape.”
