CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall meets Luxembourg space policymakers on Thursday 19 September

Thursday 19 September, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall was in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to meet Pierre Decker, the head of Luxembourg’s delegation at ESA. He was also received by Martine Hansen, Minister for Higher Education and
Research.
This visit provided the chance to discuss space cooperation between Luxembourg and France being pursued under a framework agreement signed in 2009 in readiness for the next ESA Ministerial Conference to be held in 2014 in Luxembourg, which will be co-chairing with Switzerland. Discussions covered the main items on the agenda, chiefly launchers and in particular Ariane 6, as well as the International Space Station and ESA’s relations with the European Union.
Jean-Yves Le Gall took the opportunity to m eet Yves Elsen, Chair of Luxembourg’s GLAE aerospace group, and Romain Bausch, Chairman & CEO of SES.
After these meetings, Jean-Yves Le Gall said: “I am very happy with the talks I held with Luxembourg’s space policymakers. Luxembourg is playing a notable role in ESA programmes and I am confident that, under its co-chairmanship, the Ministerial Conference in 2014 will take the decisions needed to meet the major challenges facing spacefaring Europe.
