CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall meets Olle Norberg, Director General of the Swedish National Space Board (SNSB)

Friday 29 November, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall met Olle Norberg, Director General of the Swedish National Space Board (SNSB), in Stockholm. Mr Le Gall and Mr Norberg reviewed the projects on which CNES and SNSB are currently working together under the specific agreements signed in 2012 covering launchers and technology. They also discussed the main items on the agenda for the next ESA Ministerial Conference to be held in Luxembourg in December 2014: launchers and in particular Ariane 6, the International Space Station and relations between the European Union and European Space Agency (ESA). France and Sweden have been cooperating in space since the 1980s. Efforts initially focused on launchers and Earth-observation programmes, and were then extended to science and technology before being put on a formal footing in 2006 with the signature of a framework agreement by CNES and SNSB. After his meeting with Mr Norberg, Jean-Yves Le Gall said: “Sweden is a long-standing partner with whom we have established especially fruitful ties, both at bilateral level and through ESA programmes. I had a very constructive meeting with Mr Norberg, who clearly emphasized that we share the same vision of what Europe's space strategy should be, one year before the next ESA Ministerial Conference that is set to be a decisive milestone.” CNES press contacts Alain Delrieu Tel. +33 (0)1 44 76 74 04 alain.delrieu@cnes.fr Pascale Bresson Tel. +33 (0)1 44 76 75 39 pascale.bresson@cnes.fr Julien Watelet Tel. +33 (0)1 44 76 78 37 julien.watelet@cnes.fr www.cnes.fr/presse
