CNES working to promote social integration - Partnership agreement signed with Toulouse Métropole Emploi (TME)

CNES and Toulouse Métropole Emploi (TME) signed a partnership agreement today, Friday 28 February, to promote social and professional integration, in line with the ‘exemplary government’ circular.

The first project covered by the partnership agreement with TME concerns a public works contract to construct a new building at CNES's Toulouse Space Centre (CST). The building will be named after Pierre Auger, CNES's first President, who took office when the agency was founded in 1962.

The agreement sets guidelines for collaboration between CNES and TME with the aim of promoting employment and social integration under the contracts awarded by CNES for this construction project.

Due for completion in July 2015, the Pierre Auger building, offering 5,700 sq.m. of floorspace on four levels and HQE-certified (high environmental quality), is part of the programme to upgrade facilities at the CST. The project reflects CNES’s broader commitment to promoting employment in partnership with TME.

The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Marc Pircher, Director of the CST, Thierry Cotelle, TME President, Michel Peyron, Regional Director of ADEME (French environment and energy management agency), and Bruno Cavagné, President of the FNTP national public works federation and the Giesper group, the contractor selected to perform structural, excavation, roadways and utilities work for the Pierre Auger construction project.

TME coordinates the expertise, resources and initiatives of local players in training, employment and social and professional integration across the Greater Toulouse Urban Community.

On this occasion, Marc Pircher, Director of the Toulouse Space Centre, stated: “The Pierre Auger building project is resolutely innovative in terms of employment and environmental standards. This ground-breaking ceremony gives us another opportunity to exhibit the vitality of the Toulouse Space Centre, working with Toulouse Métropole Emploi to support the region’s economy.”
