On 1 April 2016, at the end of his term as Director of Navigation Programmes at ESA, Didier Faivre will join CNES as a Director reporting to CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall. Didier Faivre will subsequently be appointed as the new Director of the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), when Bernard Chemoul’s term of office expires, no later than 30 September 2016.

Born on 21 May 1956, Didier Faivre is a graduate of the École Polytechnique engineering school. He began his career in 1983 at the CSG. From 1983 to 2000, he continued his career at CNES, working at the agency’s Paris headquarters and Toulouse Space Centre (CST). Commenting on this appointment, Jean-Yves Le Gall said: “CNES is delighted at the prospect of Didier Faivre’s arrival and subsequent appointment as Director of the Guiana Space Centre, succeeding Bernard Chemoul. In the last 10 years, the CSG has undergone some spectacular developments, with Europe’s family of launch vehicles successfully installed, the ramp-up of launch operations and the construction of the Ariane 6 launch complex. In this respect, Didier Faivre’s professional background and personal involvement in the success of Galileo will be real assets as we address the challenges ahead.”
