French-Swedish space cooperation : SNSB visits CNES Head Office

Monday 11 January, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall and Olle Norberg, Director General of the Swedish National Space Board (SNSB), met at CNES Head Office to discuss French-Swedish space cooperation and the next ESA ministerial conference.

Sweden has forged close partnership ties with France in space over more than 30 years. The most recent cooperation agreements between CNES and SNSB, signed in 2012, cover technology, notably the Myriade Evolutions spacecraft bus programme, and launchers.

This meeting offered the opportunity to review the status of French-Swedish space cooperation and ongoing collaborations between SNSB and CNES. Mr Le Gall and Mr Norberg also discussed the next ESA ministerial conference to be held at the end of the year in Lucerne, Switzerland, and reviewed the agency’s programmes.

After the meeting, Jean-Yves Le Gall commented: “We had a very constructive meeting with Olle Norberg that reaffirmed Sweden’s close interest in space and its desire to work with France. Our discussions also gave us the chance to start planning for the next ESA ministerial conference in December, which will mark a new and important milestone in the construction of Europe’s space programme.”
