Galileo programme governance Jean-Yves Le Gall re-elected unanimously as Chair of GSA Administrative Board

The Administrative Board of GSA, the European GNSS1 Agency, met for its 52nd session on Wednesday 21 March at the agency’s headquarters in Prague. On this occasion, Jean-Yves Le Gall, CNES President and French interministerial coordinator for European satellite navigation programmes, was re-elected unanimously as the Board’s chair.

GSA manages and operates satellite navigation systems on behalf of the European Union, with responsibility for EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service) since 2014 and Galileo since 2017. Carlo des Dorides is the agency’s Executive Director.

After his re-election, Jean-Yves Le Gall commented: “In 2016, the GSA Administrative Board bestowed me the honour of electing me as Chair. Today, with Galileo well past the mark of 100 million users, I recognize and appreciate the Board’s trust in renewing my term. And the election of Alberto Tuozzi, the head of the Italian space agency ASI’s Telecommunications and Navigation division, as the Board’s Vice-Chair, shows the desire of member states and the European Commission to federate Europe’s space team. I realize just how far we have come thanks to the efforts of the GTI interministerial working group and to CNES’s historic experience and unwavering support for the EGNOS and Galileo programmes. Lastly, I would like to congratulate Alberto on his election and I look forward to pursuing our actions with Carlo des Dorides and his team, who I know, like and respect.”
