IAF Spring Meetings 2019 - IAF Bureau dinner in honour of 72nd IAC in Paris in 2021

Every year in March, the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) organizes its Spring Meetings in Paris. This year, they are being held from 26 to 28 March at the New Cap Conference Centre in the capital’s 15th arrondissement. Over three days, the IAF’s Technical and Administrative Committees are meeting to review progress with ongoing projects, while the International Programme Committee is selecting presentations for the International Astronautical Congress (IAC), the 70th edition of which will be held later this year in Washington D.C. This event will coincide with celebrations around the world marking the 50th anniversary of man’s first step on the Moon.

Tuesday 26 March, IAF Bureau members were invited to CNES’s Head Office in Paris Les Halles for a dinner honouring IAC 2021, which will take place in the French capital city. At the IAF’s General Assembly closing the latest IAC in Bremen, Germany, on Friday 5 October 2018, Paris was chosen as the host city for the 72nd IAC in 2021.

Speaking at this dinner, CNES and IAF President Jean-Yves Le Gall commented: “CNES was a prime mover behind Paris’s candidacy to host IAC 2021, and this choice is a testament to France’s leading role in the international space arena. IAC 2021 will offer a great opportunity for France’s space programme to raise its international profile. As the agency’s President, I felt it was my duty to underline and honour this fine prospect with you, and I thank you all for being here. I look forward to IAC 2021 being an exceptional event, and I can assure you that CNES is pulling out all the stops to make it an outstanding success.”
