INTERNATIONAL ASTRONAUTICAL CONGRESS (IAC), 73RD EDITION TO BE HELD IN PARIS 18-22 SEPTEMBER 2022

Wednesday 3 June, an extraordinary session of the Bureau of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) was chaired by Pascale Ehrenfreund, IAF President and Chair of The Executive Board of DLR. The Bureau reviewed the calendar for forthcoming editions of the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in light of the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown. To limit population movements, the 71st edition of IAC will be virtual (The Cyberspace Edition) from 12-14 October 2020. Dubai will then be hosting the 72nd IAC in 2021, Paris the 73rd edition in 2022 and Baku the 74th in 2023.

Commenting on the new event calendar, CNES President and IAF Honorary Ambassador Jean-Yves Le Gall said: “CNES was instrumental in leading the candidacy of Paris for IAC 2021 and its selection as host city marked the recognition of France’s key role in the international space arena. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to modify the event’s calendar and Paris will now be welcoming the 73rd IAC from 18-22 September 2022. I really hope that the next editions of IAC, which are going to be major events for the global space sector, will be a great success. The Paris edition will offer a fantastic opportunity for French and European space to project its international reach. I can already say that CNES is working full out to assure its success.”
